Specialized Wilderness Medicine was conceived by a group of professional expedition medics and leaders who saw a need to take wilderness medical training one step further. Our courses offer a unique opportunity to experience the culture and challenges of extreme environments in a true wilderness setting. With training led by outdoor professionals, these courses are designed to cover all of the skills in the normal Wilderness First Responder (WFR) module, and have extra modules that relate to specific environments, including survival and search and rescue skills. At this stage we are offering Tropical Wildernes First Responder and High Altitude Wilderness First Responder. Both courses last 14 days, and successful students completing either course will be certified through SOLO as a Wilderness First Responder and American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR. If you are looking for a class in the US that will teach you valuable skills both at home and overseas we offer a 9day Wilderness First Responder class and three day Wilderness First Aid (WFA). If you are already a Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness EMT (WEMT) why not apply to join our Expedition Medic expedition. Travelling to the jungles of Borneo you will have a unique opportunity to work alongside professional medics as part of an International relief project.
